Intel and AMD Freeze Chip Sales in Russia

Chipmakers Intel and AMD have both frozen their respective sales channels in Russia amid the ongoing conflict.

AMD announced on Thursday that it was halting chip shipments in the region, with Intel joining the pledge shortly and with a similar statement. AMD detailed that its chip ban will be extended to the neighboring Belarus region, which played a part in the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Intel echoed the sentiment and stated that it ‘condemns the invasion of Ukraine by Russia’, and as a result they have suspended shipments to Belarus and Russian customers. The chip manufacturer added that it will be raising relief effort funds via employee donation and matching campaigns to help the people of Ukraine and refugees.

AMD said that the company will not be affected in terms of supply chain, and that they should be able to continue providing products, services and support to all its customers and partners.
