Processor manufacturing firm Intel’s new mobile and desktop chips offer a new security feature against ransomware.
The 12th generation desktop and mobile core processors from Intel have launched today, with the Alder Lake chips now sporting the vPro technology. vPro is divided into two categories- vPro Enterprise for Chrome and vPro Essentials for small businesses.
Intel says that it’s expecting more than a hundred designs from notable computer makers Samsung, Lenovo, HP, Asus, Dell, Acer, Fujitsu and Panasonic. The Alder Lake chips with vPro technology followed the 11th gen Tiger Lake processors in what Intel called CET, or control flow enforcement technology and TDT, or threat detection, which recognizes and stops firmware attacks.
In addition, Intel has bolstered its Hardware Shield with defense against supply-chain attacks, cryptomining and ransomware.
The Alder Lake chips will also have virtualization technology with redirect protection as well as total memory Encryption Multi-Key for hardware support on future virtualization solutions for OS releases down the line.
